VA resulted to P6.44M, 393 beneficiaries

Cebu City—The Voluntary Arbitration program of the regional office here resulted to P6.44M monetary equivalent and has benefited 393 workers, announced Director Edmundo T. Mirasol.

According to Mirasol, the monetary benefit comprises the 12 voluntary arbitration cases decided and settled for this year.

“There is an increase of 316% on the monetary benefit and 1123% on the workers benefited as compared to last year.” Director Mirasol said.

In 2017, the VA program generated a total of P2.04M in monetary benefit for 35 workers.

Learning Congress held

Cebu City—A total of fifty-seven participants attended the Learning Congress for Voluntary Arbitrators and Social Partners last December 6 announced Director Edmundo T. Mirasol.

“The participants were composed of 42 attendees representing 26 companies as well as 15 PAVA officers and members.”, he said.

PAVA Executive Vice-President Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez discussed the topic   Updates/Latest  Jurisprudence on Contractualization.

He started his discussion giving a brief description on the role of the state which is the protection to labor without oppression to capital and industrial peace based on justice.

2018 Gawad Linaw awardees bared

Mandue City—No less than the Chairman of the Board of Judges and NCMB7 Director Edmundo T. Mirasol bared the 2018 Gawad Linaw winners in an awarding ceremony held last December 7 at the Oakridge Pavilion, Mandaue City.

A.D. Gothong Manufacturing Corp. was proclaimed winner for the large business category while Cebu Furniture support as the winner for the small business category. Both winners received a cash prize of P50,000 and a trophy.

The winners were judged based on the following criteria: employee management partnership (25%), state of labor-management and dispute resolution strategies (25%), productivity program (25%) and corporate social responsibility (25%).

Four companies made into the final cut  for the large category namely  A.D. Gothong Manufacturing Corp., Cenapro Chemical Corp., Virginia Farms, Inc., and Zuellig Pharma Corp.

Cebu City—No less than Director Edmundo T. Mirasol shared the Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms programs of the board in a radio guesting last November 15.

The program “Tingog sa mga Mamumuo” with alternate anchor  Leslie Caminade Vestil hosted the discussion which centered on Labor Management Cooperation, Grievance Machinery, Voluntary Arbitration and Conciliation Mediation.

Director Mirasol stressed that industrial peace is everybody’s concern and one way to achieve it is having proactive programs in every organization, where issues and concerns can be addressed appropriately.

“There are contributing factors that disputes remain unsolved such as the attitude of the parties and the divided stand by the group or the concerned individuals”, emphasized Director Mirasol on his discussion on conciliation mediation.
