Cebu City—A total of fifty-seven participants attended the Learning Congress for Voluntary Arbitrators and Social Partners last December 6 announced Director Edmundo T. Mirasol.
“The participants were composed of 42 attendees representing 26 companies as well as 15 PAVA officers and members.”, he said.
PAVA Executive Vice-President Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez discussed the topic Updates/Latest Jurisprudence on Contractualization.
He started his discussion giving a brief description on the role of the state which is the protection to labor without oppression to capital and industrial peace based on justice.
He cited rulings on the recognition on the validity of legitimate job contracting, management prerogative to outsource or contract out some of its operational functions, labor-only contracting and overview on outsourcing to name a few.
On one hand, Engr. Dante V. Arcilla Jr., IT & Social Media Expert and Consultant discussed the topic on Social Media Posts: Advantages and Perils it Bring to Employees and Employers.
The learning congress is a joint activity of the Philippine Association on Voluntary Arbitration, (PAVA) Inc. , Association of Accredited Voluntary Arbitrators in Central Visayas, (AVA) Inc. and Association of Industrial Peace Advocates in Central Visayas, (AIPA) Inc.
PAVA is the national organization of accredited voluntary arbitrators from various sectors and different fields of specialization. AVAC is the local counterpart of PAVA while AIPA is an organization composed of labor and management practitioners and other individuals who are stakeholders of industrial peace.
